Jiang Yikang and Jiang Daming Meet with Leaders from Sister Provinces and States

On August 6th, Jiang Yikang, the party secretary of Shandong, and Governor Jiang Daming met with leaders attending the Fourth Sister Provinces and States Summit. Jiang Yikang said, we were honored to host the summit in Jinan Shandong at the prominence of the opening of Beijing Olympic Games. As a comparatively-developed province in the coastal areas of China, Shandong has kept sound development momentum in recent years both in economy and society. With the increased exchanges with foreign countries, Shandong established sistership with 30 provinces and states from 26 countries. The two key themes of this summit, i.e., to build economized society and sanitation & health, are of great importance to the development of Shandong. Shandong will strengthen cooperation with its sister provinces and states in environmental protection to improve its sustainability, learning from the experiences of its counterparts. Shandong will also devote to providing safe, efficient, convenient and affordable healthcare services to its people. The summit was a great opportunity for the development of friendship among the provinces and states and would help to promote and expand the exchanges and cooperation among its members.

The leaders from other provinces and states attending the summit extended their sincere thanks to Shandong side for its hospitality and preparation of the summit. They promised to continue their efforts for the promotion of friendship among the provinces and states. They also wished the success of Beijing Olympic Games and the Sailing Game in Qingdao. Leaders attending the summit included those from the Quebec Province, Canada, the State of Upper Austria, Austria, the State of Georgia, USA, the State of Bavaria, Germany, and Western Cape Province, South Africa.  

On the same day, Governor Jiang Daming met with those leaders respectively and signed an agreement with Mr. Charest, Premier of Quebec, to establish sistership between the two provinces.

Other Shandong leaders present at those events included Gao Xinting, Wang Min, Cai Limin, Qiao Yanchun, Zhang Wanqing, Hao Feng, Wang Xu, Lu Zaimu.
