Weihai
Weihai is reputed as the most livable city and has been awarded as the first National Sanitary City in China and among the first group of National Model City for Environmental Protection. It is also the city most suitable for starting businesses, for it is also on the honor scroll of top 40 cities with fine investment hardware environment and top 50 cities in aggregate economic strength. It won UN Habitat Prize in 2003.
Introduction
Weihai has under its jurisdiction three county-level cities – Rongcheng, Wendeng and Rushan, Huancui District, Economic and Technological Development Zone and High and New Tech Development Zone. A total of 2.498 million people live in the land of 5698 square kilometers.
Against the background of blue sky, azure sea, red tiles and green trees, buildings of Chinese and western styles stand up in an orderly and beautiful way. The sea, hills, buildings, trees compose an attracting and eco-friendly picture. Blessed with that amicable environment, Weihai is endeavoring to develop modern manufacturing industry, tourism, agricultural product and sideline product processing and export, and service outsourcing. It has established trade relations with more than 160 countries and regions in the world and the GDP growth registered over 16.3% for the past 20 years since the city was born.
